Wednesday begins production on season 2 and adds slew of British stars (2024)

Netflix has announced that season 2 of Wednesday has begun production with a slew of British stars being added to the cast.

The streamer took to social media to share a video featuring Thing running through a corridor pulling a wagon full of scripts.

Thedisembodied hand passes doors with the names of the stars of the show, passing out scripts, before arriving at Jenna Ortega's door and doing the classic finger snaps.

Playing Wednesday Addams, Jenna opens the door and picks up the script as she says: 'Hello Thing. More torture awaits'.

The front page of the script reveals the season two premiere will be called 'Here We Woe Again', written by the show creatorsAlfred Gough and Miles Millar and directed by Tim Burton once again.

The clip ends with a list of the cast for series two, with Jenna, Emma Myers,Catherine Zeta-Jones,Luis Guzmán,Hunter Doohan andJoy Sunday all returning.

While several new stars are joining the show, including British legends, Thandiwe Newton, Joanna Lumley and Billie Piper.

Fresh off her huge success playing Sam McAlister in Netflix hit Scoop, Billie will be taking on the recurring role of Capri.

While BAFTA winner and Golden Globe nominee Thandiwe will be guest starring as Dr. Fairburn.

British icon Joanna will be taking on the famous role ofGrandmama, Wednesday and Pugsley's grandmother.

Other big names joining the show areHaley Joel Osment, Heather Matarazzo and Frances O'Connor in undisclosed roles.

While Back To The Future'sChristopher Lloyd is also starring, having previously played Uncle Fester in The Addams Family and Addams Family Values.

The announcement comes just weeks after the show cast Steve Buscemi in the second series.

The accomplished actor, 66, will be playingBarry Dort, the new principal of Nevermore Academy.

Steveis an accomplished actor of both the big and small screen as he was the lead in critically-acclaimed HBO series Boardwalk Empire from 2010 to 2014.

He has also starred in major films including 1992's Reservoir Dogs, 1996's Fargo, 1997's Con Air, 1998's The Big Lebowski, and 2010's Grown Ups.

It was announced that Wednesday had been renewed for a second seasonback in January 2023 after achieving incredible global success.

The spin-off about the Addams Family focuses on the gothic teenager Wednesday as she moves into boarding school Nevermore Academy.

Upon its debut week streaming in November 2022, the show racked up a record-making 341.2million viewing hours, beating Stranger Things, according to Netflix.

'Thrilled to continue Wednesday's tortuous journey into season two. We can't wait to dive head first into another season and explore the kooky spooky world of Nevermore. Just need to make sure Wednesday hasn't emptied the pool first.'
